What they ask

What do beginner virtual assistant posts ask for instead of experience?

The screening is the same for both groups, so a beginner competes on the application. A recording shows your English, written questions show how you follow instructions, and a check word shows whether you read the whole post. Our guide to how to become a virtual assistant walks through the application order, and the one-page resume with no work experience covers the document.

Have these ready before your first application

  • A 60 to 90 second voice or video introduction in clear English
  • One tool from the posts, practiced: Google Workspace or Microsoft 365
  • A speed test screenshot of your home internet
  • A one-page resume as a link that opens in one click
  • Your answers to the post’s questions, in the order it asks them

Office tools named most often across all 50 posts: Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. Recording length: the 60 to 90 seconds one OnlineJobs.ph post asked for.

Where to look

Where do beginners find virtual assistant jobs, and how do you avoid scams?

Start on OnlineJobs.ph, where 13 of 30 posts set no minimum, then JobStreet; on either, never pay to get hired.

Search OnlineJobs.ph for “virtual assistant”, where the newest posts come first and the client screens you inside the ad. On JobStreet, 15 of 20 VA posts came from a firm that places you with a client business, and 9 added screening questions such as your years as a VA: answer honestly, and name what you can show instead. For a home-based job with an employer and paid training, compare work-from-home call center jobs.

Scam check for beginners

None of the 50 live posts we read asked for a fee, a training payment or bank details (0 of 50). An offer that asks you to pay for training, a “starter kit” or registration before you are hired does not match any of them. JobStreet itself marked 2 of its 20 VA posts as not checked by its hirer verification. DOLE says a degree is not required: “a Sr. High School diploma would suffice” with intermediate to advanced technical skills (DOLE CareerInfo PH), so you do not need a paid certificate to apply.

How do you start as a virtual assistant with no experience?

Pick one type of beginner post, prepare the proof it asks for, and apply only to posts whose experience line lets you in.

In our sample that means general admin work, a recording and one tool you have practiced, and posts in the first three rows of the decoder above. Screening questions often ask your expected rate, so check what virtual assistant posts pay in pesos before you answer. Your training plan shows which part of the screening to practice first:
